Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
MTD for Income Tax is now rolling out in stages, so getting ready early is one of the best ways to avoid stress later on.
Who it applies to
It starts from 6 April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000, then extends to those over £30,000 from 6 April 2027 and over £20,000 from 6 April 2028.
What changes
You will need compatible software, digital records, quarterly updates and a final year-end submission. Tax payment dates still stay aligned with Self Assessment.
